The purpose of this activity is to educate healthcare providers on cultural competence, update attendees on current research and findings on health disparities as they relate to cultural barriers and discuss ways to minimize or eliminate these barriers to provide culturally sensitive care and increase patient satisfaction and wellbeing. The agenda focuses on current challenges and highlights recent changes and guidelines that are making a difference. Participants will leave with a wealth of knowledge on how to identify cultural barriers in communication, how to ask appropriate questions to learn how to face these barriers, how to apply cultural sensitivity, and how to properly apply the patient’s cultural values to western medicine to promote patient compliance with their care plans.
