This activity is intended for prescribers, pharmacists, legal counsel and other allied health professionals who have an interest in the Utah Medical Cannabis Law and how it will impact them. This activity will fulfill the education requirement to be registered in the State of Utah as a qualified medical provider. To become a Medical Cannabis Qualified Medical Provider, the State of Utah requires the prescriber complete all 4 hours of education and complete a post-test with a score of 75% or better.

NOTE: The video presentations were recorded during a live continuing education activity event on February 10, 2020. One the day of the recording, content was up-to-date. Some of the information has since changed. Refer to the Medical Cannabis Provider Education Presentation Addendum for changes.

The following knowledge-based activities are approved for ACPE credit:

  • Legal and Compliance Considerations with Medical Cannabis – ACPE UAN 0582-0000-20-100-H03-P (1.5 hours or 0.15 CEU)
    • Describe key details of the Utah Medical Cannabis Act
    • Summarize the Utah Medical Cannabis Act
    • Compare available cannabinoid formulations allowed in the State of Utah
  • Clinical Consideration with Medical Cannabis – ACPE UAN 0582-0000-20-101-H01-P (2.00 hours or 0.20 CEU)
    • Describe risks and benefits of medical cannabis use in special populations
    • Differentiate between tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD)
    • Review available literature for cannabis use in various qualifying conditions included in the Utah Medical Cannabis Act
  • Medical Cannabis Resources for Providers and Patients – ACPE UAN 0582-0000-20-102-H01-P (0.5 hours or 0.05 CEU)
    • Discuss available medical cannabis education for patients
    • Discuss available medical cannabis resources for providers

  • Screen Resolution: A minimum resolution of 1024x768 can be used, but due to the large amount of data on many screens the highest resolution available on your system will provide more usable space and make using CloudCME® more efficient.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Discuss the history of cannabis including dosing forms, considerations, drug interactions, adverse reactions, contraindications, and toxicology.
  2. Outline qualifying conditions and appropriate forms of medical cannabis for a patient under the Utah Medical Cannabis Act.
  3. Discuss the scope of the Utah Medical Cannabis Act and the provider's role in recommending medical cannabis.
