Overview
Microbiology plate rounds is a biweekly, hour-long session where learners (fellows, medical students, residents), infectious disease physician, microbiology techs, ID pharmacists, and infection control professionals systemwide meet to discuss clinical cases, microbiology findings and processes, therapeutic considerations and clinical pearls from each case. The sessions are designed so attendees learn from each other

Objectives
  1. Describe current microbiology processes in the Intermountain microbiology laboratories.
  2. Describe morphologic appearance of common and uncommon organisms and colonies and by Gram stain.
  3. Define and communicate updated CLSI recommendations to susceptibility interpretations.
  4. Recognize clinical manifestations of common and uncommon organisms identified in the microbiology lab.
