At the conclusion of this training, the learner should recognize the principles of patient evaluation, safe administration of sedation medications, and recognize the common pitfalls of adult sedation. The learner will also be aware of basic pharmacology and dosing of commonly-used sedative drugs. This activity also educates the learner to the specific requirements of Intermountain Healthcare with regards to sedation administration in the adult population.

1. Review principles of patient evaluation prior to sedation
2. Discuss principles of safe administration of appropriate sedation agents
3. Recognize and respond to the common pitfalls of adult sedation
