To honor the career of Dr. James (Jim) Orme, Jr, MD we will review the history of critical care medicine at Intermountain over the past 45 years including clinical operations, education, and research.

1. At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to describe evidence based practices in critical care related to the following areas: 1. Best practice models in critical care 2. Low tidal volume lung protective ventilation for patients with ARDS 3. Glucose control using a computerized protocol 4. Outcomes of critical illness 5. Role of palliative care 6. Current state of critical care research at Intermountain 7. Education in critical care medicine for trainees
