Overview
This is a full day event in which attendees can learn about the current state of diagnostics and therapeutics in pneumonia care while also honoring Dr. Nathan (Nat) Dean and his career contributions to pneumonia research. Enjoy guest lectures from visiting experts Dr. Richard Wunderink and Dr. Marcos Restrepo, as well as lectures from local practicing physicians who have had the honor of working with Dr. Dean on his pneumonia research.

Objectives
  1. Review the current state of diagnosis, etiology, and pathogenesis of pneumonia, with their implications for treatment.
  2. Describe how variation in pneumonia care identifies opportunities for improvement
  3. Review evidence supporting risk-targeted selection of empiric antibiotics for community-acquired pneumonia
  4. Review lessons learned and best practices for implementing pneumonia clinical decision support
  5. Describe an approach to the use of standards-based tools to implement decision support processes that can integrate AI/Machine Learning components into clinical workflows
  6. Describe why optimal pneumonia care requires a complex adaptive system approach , and how informatics tools can support it.
  7. Describe opportunities for improving pneumonia care in the future.

There is no charge for this event, but registration is required. This event is being sponsored by the Department of Medicine at Intermountain Medical Center.
