Overview
This activity is designed to educate caregivers on the treatment and management of neonates with congenital heart disease. It is designed for Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, Physicians and other caregivers caring for neonates with congenital heart disease.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Identify clinically relevant management strategies that correlate with improved long-term outcomes.
  2. Discuss clinical implications of common EKG findings and how they guide management.
  3. Discuss the latest advancements and capabilities of using CTA to evaluate heart and lung physiology in neonates and how it guides medical and surgical management.
  4. Discuss the most common causes of cardiogenic shock in neonates and review diagnosis and management strategies.
  5. Summarize the physiology of cardiopulmonary interaction, discuss ventilator management and specific considerations for neonates with CHD.
  6. Discuss diagnosis (pre/postnatal), treatment and outcomes of neonates with obstructed vs unobstructed TAPVR.
  7. Recognize the strengths and limitations in fetal echocardiography and its use in answering clinically relevant questions regarding CHD diagnosis.
  8. Discuss indications and complications of various diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  9. Describe the various cardiac shunts and their impact on physiologic blood flow through the circulatory system.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Participants will self report an increase in their knowledge regarding the care of the neonatal patient with congenital heart disease.
  2. Participants will self report one change they will make to their practice or performance as a result of this education.

Cancellation and Reimbursement Policy: Full (100%) registration reimbursement for cancellation more than 14 days prior to the beginning of the activity. Half (50%) registration reimbursement for cancellation between four (4) and fourteen (14) days prior to the beginning of the activity. No reimbursement for cancellation three (3) days or less prior to the beginning of the activity.

Exceptions: Exceptions may be allowed only under extenuating circumstances and with approval from the IPCE Director, IPCE Medical Director, and AVP for IPCE.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Intermountain Healthcare, Primary Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Intermountain Healthcare is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Intermountain Healthcare designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5* AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
