Overview
The 14th Annual Rimrock Trauma Conference will take an in depth look at injuries from multiple points of view. It will include care of injuries from common causes such as falls and crashes. It will also include injuries caused by violence in all age groups which has dramatically increased. This conference will look at this change and address identification and management through evidence based care and provide a process for identifying less obvious injuries and patients that are at risk for injury after discharge.

ACCME Objectives
  1. Explore evidence-based strategies for the non-operative care of solid organ injuries.
  2. List signs and general presentations of geriatric neglect and abuse.
  3. Analyze the practitioner role in identifying and reporting suspected geriatric neglect and abuse.
  4. List the signs symptoms and presentations that suggest developing instability in solid organ injury patients.
  5. Discuss signs, symptoms and presentations of pediatric non accidental trauma.
  6. Recognize common mimics of inflicted injuries on pediatrics..
  7. Review of the who is the mandatory reporter and what their role is.
  8. Identify common cognitive biases that influence our professional decision-making.
  9. Identify strategies to counter the effects of common cognitive biases.
  10. Recognize common injury patterns of bullet wounds.
  11. Recognize the relationship between mechanism and injury in orthopedic injuries.
  12. Identify the steps for managing the initial care of a severely mangled extremity.
  13. Recognize the different cultural perspectives regarding acute deaths.
  14. Recognize the unique issues in conversations regarding acute deaths.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Nurses will self-report intent to change bedside practice in the care of trauma patients.

  • RN/RT/EMS $110
  • MD/DO/APP $175


Cancellation and Reimbursement Policy: Full (100%) registration reimbursement for cancellation more than 14 days prior to the beginning of the activity. Half (50%) registration reimbursement for cancellation between four (4) and fourteen (14) days prior to the beginning of the activity. No reimbursement for cancellation three (3) days or less prior to the beginning of the activity.
Exceptions: Exceptions may be allowed only under extenuating circumstances and with approval from the IPCE Director, IPCE Medical Director, and AVP for IPCE.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Intermountain Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.5* AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Intermountain Health is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
