Overview
The Western Colorado Neurosciences Symposium is designed for physicians, residents, advanced practice providers, nurses and therapists interested in neuroscience care issues. The latest practical information on delivering healthcare for disease processes commonly seen in the neurosciences environment will be presented through lectures and discussions. Interaction between faculty and the audience is facilitated through question and answer periods. A wide variety of clinically relevant topics have been included to appeal to a broad range of interests. As a result of this conference, the attendee should be able to evaluate, manage, and appropriately refer patients with problems in the areas of neuropalliative care, movement disorders, stroke, SAH/Aneurysms, spine care, interventional spine and spine surgery from endoscopic surgery to spinal deformity correction.

Objectives
  1. Review current, clinical approaches to initial/acute evaluation, recognition, and treatment of a number of common diagnoses/conditions within the Neurosciences including: Stroke, Back/Neck pain, Movement Disorders, Traumatic Brain injury & Concussion, Epilepsy, Cognitive Disorders and Spinal Deformities among others.
  2. Recite common criteria for surgical vs. non-surgical consultation/management of common diagnoses within the Neurosciences.
  3. Discuss new technologies and strategies currently utilized in both the emergent/acute management of patients seen within the neurosciences specialties -- as well as their incorporation into the long-term, chronic management of these patients.
