Management of Diabetes in the School

Utah School Nurses will be able to utilize the education to maintain or improve their proficiency in management of diabetic children at school, including familiarity with the newer deliver technologies and care management plans for pediatric Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes.

Commercial support provided by Medtronic, Tandem Diabetes,  Insulet, and Dexcom in the form of breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. 

*Cancellation and Reimbursement Policy: Full (100%) registration reimbursement for cancellation more than 14 days prior to the beginning of the activity. Half (50%) registration reimbursement for cancellation between four (4) and fourteen (14) days prior to the beginning of the activity. No reimbursement for cancellation three (3) days or less prior to the beginning of the activity.

 

1. Management for children with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
2. Practice operating the most current blood glucose meters
3. Practice insulin delivery, loading and programming insulin pumps
4. Calculate carbohydrate grams for typical school lunches and snacks
5. Ability to respond to situations that arise with diabetes management at school
