Overview
This course consists of 2 sessions with the intention to build from the principles of TCAR by focusing on the inpatient critical care nursing needs of the severely injured trauma patient. Topics include trauma service introduction and protocols, primary and secondary survey, radiology review, organ donation, social considerations in trauma patients, neuro exam and protocols, and equipment among other topics taught through a combination of didactic lectures, hands-on skill stations, and skill pass-offs.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. Nursing participants will self-report an increase in their knowledge regarding the care of critically ill patients.
  2. Nursing participants will pass off all 13 required skills plus the primary and secondary survey.

Intermountain Health is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.  This live activity offers a maximum of 12.75 nursing contact hours.  Successful completion is attendance at the entire event. Credit is awarded upon completion of a course feedback survey. There is no commercial support for this event.
