Mark W. Dodson, MD

Dr. Mark Dodson grew up in Florida, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He then completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of California, Los Angeles, where his research focused on the molecular genetics of Parkinson’s disease. He realized during his third year of medical school that his passion was in pulmonary vascular disease. This led him to pursue his Internal Medicine residency at the University of California, Los Angeles and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship at the University of Utah. Following fellowship, Dr. Dodson joined the faculty at Intermountain Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division. Dr. Dodson is part of the Intermountain Pulmonary Hypertension Care Center, and Medical Director of the Intermountain Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) Program. He has also served as Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at IMC, and was recently named Medical Director of Pulmonary/Critical Care at Intermountain Medical Center. Dr. Dodson’s research focuses on understanding the genetic risk factors that predispose to CTEPH, in the hopes of developing risk prediction algorithms to better identify patients at risk for CTEPH following a pulmonary embolism. Dr. Dodson lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and two children, where he enjoys cycling and nordic skiing.
