Dr. Berry is professor of medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville, medical director of the UF Health Sleep Center and director of the UF sleep medicine fellowship.  He is deputy editor of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, a past president of the AASM Foundation, and served on the AASM Board of Directors. Dr. Berry was chair of the AASM Scoring Manual Committee for 10 years and was the lead author on a publication of the AASM Sleep Apnea Definitions task force that was the most quoted article in the first fifteen years of the JCSM (over 1000 citations).  He has written two popular sleep textbooks the Fundamentals of Sleep Medicine and Sleep Medicine Pearls and was on the first Sleep Medicine Board Writing Committee of the ABIMIn 2010 Dr Berry received the AASM award for Excellence in Education, and in 2010 received the AASM Nathaniel Kleitman Distinguished Service Award in 2020. His research interests include arousal from sleep, home sleep apnea testing, treatments for obstructive sleep apnea and polysomnography technology.
