Amber Kayembe, Biography


Amber Kayembe has worked in a variety of settings throughout Intermountain Healthcare for more than 20 years, specifically in the areas of utilization management and case management. She is passionate about empowering, educating and advocating for at-risk populations. Amber strives to innovate and provide creative solutions for individuals and families with complicated medical and psychosocial comorbidities that support population health initiatives.


Currently Amber works as a Director for Care Management in the Intermountain Hospitals in Acute Care Management from Utah Valley Hospital to St. George Hospital and for Emergency Departments across the Intermountain Enterprise.  In her tenure she has worked as a frontline social work care manager in acute and emergency services.  As a frontline staff member Amber specialized in transition planning, crisis counseling, and behavioral health management. As a Director she has overseen the production of clinical documentation specialists, hospitalists nurse coordinators, Emergency Department Care Management, the Intermountain Community Care Team, Hospital Case Management, Intermountain Hospital at Home, Utilization Management, and Crisis. Amber has developed a myriad of services and programs, working collaboratively with complementary hospital and community services. She places high value on effective education, coaching and the development of healthcare professionals as well as the development of future healthcare leaders.


Amber obtained her Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah, her Bachelors of Social Work from Utah State University and her Associates of Science from Snow College. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and believes her clinical training in mental health services is vital in the medical social work setting.


In her spare time Amber enjoys spending time with her three children hiking, camping, watching movies, and spending time on the Oregon Coast.
