Dr. Lindsey Gakenheimer-Smith completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of Michigan. During this time, she was heavily involved in multiple cardiac and global health research projects. She then traveled west to the University of Utah for pediatric residency, including a chief year, where she continued to pursue her passions in pediatric cardiology and global health. She has stayed at the University of Utah for pediatric cardiology fellowship and is the first pediatric cardiology – global health fellow. For the global health track of her fellowship, she spends time working with pediatric cardiologists at The Cardiac Surgery Center of Guatemala (UNICAR) on research and clinical care. She also is completing a Master’s in Public Health through the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. After graduating from fellowship in 2023, she will stay at the University of Utah for an additional year of training in pediatric electrophysiology.
