Faculty Bio

Karlie Lynn Spraktes

I started my career in the medical field as a medical assistant in 2011 right out of high school. I worked in a family practice office and loved it. However, I knew I wanted to go on and further my education to become a nurse. I graduated with my nursing degree from Salt Lake Community College in 2015 and began my first job as an RN at Jordan Valley Medical Center in their telemetry department. While working I finished my BSN from the University of Utah in December of 2016. I later took a job in pedicatrics for a year, then had the amazing opportunity to switch to emergency medicine at Intermountain Medical Center and have never looked back. I love the Emergency Department and all the learning that comes with it. I have now been here for 3.5 years and recently became the Trauma shared Leader. I can’t wait to continue to grow and learn in this new position. My favorite activities to do outside of work consist of doing anything outdoors and spending as much time as possible with my husband and little 15-month-old son.
