McCall Shugars Bio

McCall Shugars graduated from Brigham Young University in December of 2013 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  She has worked as an RN on the Neuroscience Trauma Unit (NTU) at Primary Children’s Hospital since January 2014 with a small stent of time spent at a small children’s hospital in Ohio. In 2016, she became the Patient Experience Expanded Role that evolved into the Experience Shared Leader role in 2017 where she continued to share her passion for best care at the beside for the patient, family, and staff through chairing NTU’s Patient Experience and Staff Experience councils and co-chairing PCH’s Med-Surge Experience Council. McCall completed CORE in May of 2019 and continues to work to incorporate EBP  into her personal bedside practice and empowering other staff to do the same. Since CORE, McCall continued to function in her role as an Experience Shared Leader and has consulted on hospital wide committees and councils involving Family Centered Rounds, Behavioral Escalation Protocols, and Patient and Staff Experience. In 2019 McCall took the role as the DAISY coordinator at PCH and led the roll out of the internationally recognized DAISY nursing award in August of 2020.  This award has been very successful and is helping with staff  recognition initiatives at PCH. McCall recently accepted a position as Assistant Nurse Manager on the Neuroscience Trauma Unit in September 2020 and has been learning the ins and outs of this role since. McCall loves the nursing profession and all the growth she has experienced since starting at the bedside and looks forward to developing that same growth in others. CORE was a vital step in this journey of growth for her and continues its vitality today.
